Our Mission
Nevada publishes detailed school performance data every year through the Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF) — star ratings, academic proficiency, growth percentiles, graduation rates, and chronic absenteeism — for all 981 publicly-funded schools across 17 districts and the State Public Charter School Authority.
That data is publicly available but scattered, hard to compare, and often buried in PDFs. NevadaSchools.org collects, structures, and presents it so any parent — regardless of technical background — can compare schools side by side, filter by what matters to their family, and arrive at an informed decision.
Our Values
Accuracy First
Every rating, score, and metric on this site comes directly from the Nevada School Performance Framework published by the Nevada Department of Education. We do not alter, weight, or editorially adjust official data.
Open About the Data
Our Data Sources page documents exactly where every number comes from, which years are covered, and why two COVID years are missing. We show the data. You decide what it means.
Built for Parents
Everything on this site is designed around one question: does this help a parent make a better school decision? From the comparison tool to the zone explorer, that's the filter.
Editorial Independence
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or funded by the Nevada Department of Education, any school district, or any school. We receive no data fees, placement fees, or sponsored rankings.
What We Cover
We cover all 981 publicly-funded schools rated by the NSPF — public, charter, alternative, special education, and correctional schools across all 17 Nevada county districts and the SPCSA. Our database holds data from the 2016–17 school year through the most recent 2024–25 release, with two years absent due to the state suspending NSPF ratings during COVID-19.
We do not cover private or religious schools. The NSPF only rates publicly-funded institutions, so private schools do not appear in our data. This is not an editorial choice — it is a function of how the state collects and publishes school performance information.
Advertising
NevadaSchools.org is supported by advertising through Google AdSense. Ad revenue allows us to maintain the platform, update data annually, and keep access free for all users. Advertisers have no influence over our data, ratings, or editorial content. School rankings are determined solely by the official NSPF index scores published by the Nevada Department of Education — no school can pay for a better ranking or placement.
